This week

Me and my girl on Sunday morning.
Boden Dotty Wrap Dress - ancient
Anthropologie Ampay Necklace - If you don't own it already, BUY IT, so pretty!
Anthropologie Gold Rung Earrings - I want these in the grey, next!

On Tuesday I wore Spring colors and froze my toes off in sandals.

And today I busted out my new J. Crew Cardi and Anthro Sandals because I was so excited about both.

I don't usually wear flats, but the backs of these were just too awesome to pass up.  I know the online reviews mention that they run small, but I ordered my usual size and they fit comfortably, I've also find they stretch a bit as you wear them.

We have rain in the forecast for the rest of the week - which is great for the grass, but not so much for my motivation...it might be sweatpants tomorrow ;)

Sometimes it Works in my Favor

Being Short does foil my plans for lots of cute pieces, but sometimes it works to my advantage too! Case in point - this dress.
Anthropologie Dessau Dress (regular length version)
Anthropologie Whirl & Wind Cardigan
Anthropologie Filigree Crochet Earrings
Anthropologie Enameled Bracelet Set
Anthropologie Waving Grains Pumps
I'm curious to see where Campbell will end up in height - right now she is holding in the 50th percentile.

In love with Ines...and other things too...

The only thing better then a trip to my favorite store, is sharing the experience with my two favorite girls - it was a first visit to Anthropologie for both Campbell and my mom this afternoon.  While I went into the dressing room to try on pretty clothes, my ever helpful mom stayed on the couch and cooed over the pretty baby with every customer walking by.  It was such a rare treat not to feel rushed, and since I had a fitting room with lots of light coming in, I decided to snap pictures of the pieces I tried on.

My hands down favorite of the day was the Ines Column Dress.  I haven't felt the slightest temptation with other versions of this Baily 44 number, but the tiers of lace on this one had me eager to see what the hype was all about.  And Oh.my.gosh.

.  When I say I love this dress, I mean I really, really, REALLY love this dress.  I didn't want to take it off.  Well, maybe for a quick second to add some smoothing shapewear underneath...but otherwise I could have walked right out of the store with this on and lived happily ever after.  I felt like a million bucks, and while this dress makes zero sense for my lifestyle (it's white, fancy and form fitting) I would totally buy it anyway. I will buy it anyway.

I don't see this next dress online, but I did see a blouse with a similar bumble bee print show up in new arrivals, so surely it's on its way to the website soon.  This little frock was priced at $118 and I tried it in the size 0, which worked perfectly - very petite friendly!  I love fun prints like this one and the neckline was super flattering, my only reservation is finding an undergarment that wouldn't show.

The Diamond Kite Dress was a piece that had caught my attention online, because once again I am a sucker for a cutesy print.  Unfortunately, there was no size 0 at my store (and I now see that size is also sold out online! EEK!) so I tried the size 2 and even though it was too roomy, I still loved this piece.  I think the 0 with a belt would be perfect...so now I need to ring up Customer Service and see if there are a reasonable amount of these still in stores, or if I should bite the bullet at full price to ensure finding my size.  Hmm. Thoughts? Have you ladies seen this dress at your stores in a wide variety of sizes still?

My biggest disappointment of the day was the Primary Blooms Dress, which I had been dying to try on. I squealed when I spotted it, loved the bright, fun print just as much in person as I had online.  The dress has a very easy fit, and I was able to pull on the size 0 without having to unzip/unbutton it - so I'm thinking it runs a bit large.  The overall length of this dress, and where the waist hit me were not especially flattering once I had the dress on.  IMO, the print was a little too big in scale and too busy on my frame.  I felt too much like a housewife and a house when I had this on.  Maybe a belt would help?  Given how much I really loved the other 3 dresses I tried though, this one will almost definitely be a pass for me.  Sad face.
Next up, I tried on a few tops - starting with a favorite from online, the Urubamba Tank.  I was worried from the reviews that this would be huge, but while it definitely had a relaxed and roomy fit, I think it still looked really cute on.  I would have to wear a cami underneath to keep from exposing anything at the neckline and armholes, but I'd happily pick this top up in any of the colors offered if I could get my grabby hands on it at sale price.
I really wanted to try the Braxton Top in the cute polka dot colorway, but could only find an XS in the ivory.  The sleeves were completely laughable on me.  If you are considering the ivory for yourself, you should know it is totally see-thru as well.
here is a better representation of the ridiculous sleeves.  A little less volume and I would have loved this!
On the flip side, I wish the Dove Wing Shell had some more material to it.  I had to yank this top down from my belly button to be able to snap a picture.  I have no idea why this is being offered in a petite version online...I mean, it's not supposed to be a crop top, right??? Too bad because the detail was beautiful.  If you are okay with an exposed midriff, you better be okay with showing off everything, because this piece was totally sheer too.
So there you have it - my tales from the fitting room today!  So fun! I wish I got to shop at the store more often...who knows, since my mom enjoyed herself too, maybe I will!

Fast Favorites

This sweater with it's amazing color and detail, these earrings that are just the right size, the bangles that are endlessly versatile, and my new pair of Seychelles shoes which are comfortable enough to run in and fabulously neutral - all were favorites the minute I slipped them on!

Today I was in charge of taking my six year old and his buddy to a birthday party at one of those indoor inflatables play lands. Good thing I had comfortable shoes on when I realized I'd taken the boys to Jumping Jacks while the party was actually at Pump it Up.  Mortifying.  A quick dash to the car (believe me, I couldn't get out of there quickly enough!) and we were at the party just a few minutes late ;)

Petite Defeat

I recently bought several bags of Easter candy for 1/2 price and I have been gobbling up handfuls of Starburst Jellybeans like it's my full time job...so being under my pre-pregnancy weight might not last very long....

At the moment however, I am 5lbs less then when I got pregnant with Campbell and I'm finding that it's making a bigger difference then I thought it would in how clothing fits. Here is a recent outfit of the day featuring one of my few Anthropologie "wins" of late - the Filigree Crochet Earrings, which I LOVE. They don't get lost in my long hair, are very light on my ears, and they are seriously gorgeous!

Not so much luck in the tops department though...

Petite Defeat
The Twist & Flounce Tank is a gorgeous color, and fair price - but for me, the neckline is too loo, the armholes are too big and the amount of material on the bottom of this top makes me feel like I am back in maternity clothes. I had hoped to pick this up in several colors, so I am definitely bummed. I will say it looks great tucked in, so it could be passable with a skirt. But not at full price.

The Crisscrossed Top is beautifully unique, but the drape is just off on my frame as you can best see from this side shot. If I was a "baby-wearer" this could almost work as a sling...

The length is great on me, so I'm wondering if it will be too short for others who are taller.

And finally, the Art of Pursuit Top which I had actually tried on a couple of months ago and loved at the store. I don't know where the disconnect happened, but when I tried on my one from my online order it was a whole other story. I just think the pattern isn't as flattering as I imagined now that I look at the pictures, I feel wide and boxy in it.

Once again, there was just too much blousyness at the bottom of this tee. Unfortunate, because the material is so nice and light and it would have been a perfect casual option for Summer.

I'm starting to seriously think I should stick with wearing dresses. Luckily, they are a favorite option for me once the weather warms up!

Tarn It!

Has anyone had luck with the Tarn Necklace? My first one arrived broken, and so did it's second and third replacements. I called a local store and ordered a fourth so it could be carefully packaged and not have to travel far to reach me...and while it arrived in perfect condition, I only got to wear it to church for a couple of hours before there was an explosion of beads all over the floor :( Here is a quick picture I snapped before the necklace bit the dust.

On a much happier note, the Mixed Media Heels are truly as amazing as the online reviews indicate. They are immediate favorites - and every bit as comfortable as they are cute.
Shoes & Necklaces are KILLING me for Spring!
