The only thing better then a trip to my favorite store, is sharing the experience with my two favorite girls - it was a first visit to Anthropologie for both Campbell and my mom this afternoon. While I went into the dressing room to try on pretty clothes, my ever helpful mom stayed on the couch and cooed over the pretty baby with every customer walking by. It was such a rare treat not to feel rushed, and since I had a fitting
room with lots of light coming in, I decided to snap pictures of the
pieces I tried on.
My hands down favorite of the day was the
Ines Column Dress. I haven't felt the slightest temptation with other versions of this Baily 44 number, but the tiers of lace on this one had me eager to see what the hype was all about. And Oh.my.gosh.
. When I say I love this dress, I mean I really, really, REALLY love this dress. I didn't want to take it off. Well, maybe for a quick second to add some smoothing shapewear underneath...but otherwise I could have walked right out of the store with this on and lived happily ever after. I felt like a million bucks, and while this dress makes zero sense for my lifestyle (it's white, fancy and form fitting) I would totally buy it anyway. I will buy it anyway.
I don't see this next dress online, but I did see a blouse with a similar bumble bee print show up in new arrivals, so surely it's on its way to the website soon. This little frock was priced at $118 and I tried it in the size 0, which worked perfectly - very petite friendly! I love fun prints like this one and the neckline was super flattering, my only reservation is finding an undergarment that wouldn't show.

The
Diamond Kite Dress was a piece that had caught my attention online, because once again I am a sucker for a cutesy print. Unfortunately, there was no size 0 at my store (and I now see that size is also sold out online! EEK!) so I tried the size 2 and even though it was too roomy, I still loved this piece. I think the 0 with a belt would be perfect...so now I need to ring up Customer Service and see if there are a reasonable amount of these still in stores, or if I should bite the bullet at full price to ensure finding my size. Hmm. Thoughts? Have you ladies seen this dress at your stores in a wide variety of sizes still?

My biggest disappointment of the day was the
Primary Blooms Dress, which I had been dying to try on. I squealed when I spotted it, loved the bright, fun print just as much in person as I had online. The dress has a very easy fit, and I was able to pull on the size 0 without having to unzip/unbutton it - so I'm thinking it runs a bit large. The overall length of this dress, and where the waist hit me were not especially flattering once I had the dress on. IMO, the print was a little too big in scale and too busy on my frame. I felt too much like a housewife
and a house when I had this on. Maybe a belt would help? Given how much I really loved the other 3 dresses I tried though, this one will almost definitely be a pass for me. Sad face.

Next up, I tried on a few tops - starting with a favorite from online, the
Urubamba Tank. I was worried from the reviews that this would be huge, but while it definitely had a relaxed and roomy fit, I think it still looked really cute on. I would have to wear a cami underneath to keep from exposing anything at the neckline and armholes, but I'd happily pick this top up in any of the colors offered if I could get my grabby hands on it at sale price.
I really wanted to try the
Braxton Top in the cute polka dot colorway, but could only find an XS in the ivory. The sleeves were completely laughable on me. If you are considering the ivory for yourself, you should know it is totally see-thru as well.
here is a better representation of the ridiculous sleeves. A little less volume and I would have loved this!
On the flip side, I wish the Dove Wing Shell had some more material to it. I had to yank this top down from my belly button to be able to snap a picture. I have no idea why this is being offered in a petite version online...I mean, it's not supposed to be a crop top, right??? Too bad because the detail was beautiful. If you are okay with an exposed midriff, you better be okay with showing off everything, because this piece was totally sheer too.
So there you have it - my tales from the fitting room today! So fun! I wish I got to shop at the store more often...who knows, since my mom enjoyed herself too, maybe I will!
