Let's Catch Up

Weekends are the perfect time to catch up, right? So first let me tell you that I got my hair highlighted and my side bangs cut earlier in the week. A few of you have been wondering if I got my hair cut, I did not take anything off the length but I've been shallacking my hair pretty good these days and the tighter curls make it look shorter, I think.

Today we had some family pictures taken by a girl from our church who is graduating from a local photography school this year and building up her portfolio. When she asked if she could take pictures of our family, I was happy to agree, but when she suggested matching long sleeve tops in earth tones...well, I decided it was fine to let our own style shine for the shoot, instead ;) I actually didn't figure out outfits until this morning when I made a mad dash to the mall and picked up coordinating pieces for the boys at Gymboree and a polo for Jonathan at Gap. I figured I'd have something for myself on hand in my closet and I was almost giddy when I got home and my eyes landed on this dress, the colors were just what I needed! I can't wait to see how they turned out!

And here are some outfits pre-highlights and before I shared the news about my bump!

I can wear the Peppered & Striped Skirt really high on my waist, and I wanted to break it out one last time this season. I wore this to church this past Sunday, where I actually decided to feign being cold and keep my coat on because I wasn't ready to make an announcement and I felt too conspicuous. So the poor outfit never really saw the light of day.

The Abstract Shell from Loft had been hanging in my closet with the tags still attached just waiting for Spring. I first tried it on with pink and yellow cardigans and ended up not liking either, it was pastel overload! Once I reached for a neutral sweater, I loved it!

This last outfit is one I've waited a long time to recreate. Months ago I saw cute Carol pair these pieces together and I fell in love - only problem was that I didn't own the Sidestep Skirt at that time! Once I got my greedy little hands on the cute skirt, I decided to take a cue from another East Coaster, the adorable Sara, and add the burgundy tights - perfect!

Now, if only I could catch up on things around my house, like laundry and cleaning. Sigh. I hope you are all having productive weekends! Or even better, just relaxing! I'm so excited for the time change tomorrow, I love when it stays ligther, later in the evening! Happy weekend!

You will never believe this but my boys are wearing those same outfits (same colors from the same line anyway) for our family pictures--hopefully this week. Brian is wearing gray, Piper a mustard Boden dress...and me...who knows. Wish I could wear that dress you posted. I can't wait to see!

Love the whole set for the family pictures...perfect colors to go with your cute dress! And those outfits are all fabulous on you...that second one is my fave I think. That tank is perfection with a neutral cardi...totally spot on. But wait...that Side Step skirt...too cute! I sorta wanna track one down! =) Thanks for sharing!

I love the first two outfits; yellow and gray are one of my favorite color combos and the colors in the second shirt are great! I have to catch up too :)

Great outfits!! I love the first one - that cardigan looks terrific with the skirt. And I've always loved the Sidestep skirt, it's so versatile and feminine. I'll have to wear mine next week!

I'm totally digging your family photo outfits. Gorgeous! I loved your pairing the green cardi with the peppered and striped. I think that skirt poofs out enough at the belly to disguise the little bun in the oven. Bet no one would have known... also, Loft tanks are the best for a little "extra" room. I loved that tank with the neutral- great choice!

I love all these outfits! The bright green cardigan looks adorable with the Peppered and Striped. And I agree with Jenni that the floral LOFT tank looks perfect with the neutral cardigan. I have a similarly colored pencil skirt from J. Crew that can seem sickly sweet when paired with pastels. I'll have to try it with a neutral blazer or cardi next time. Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh, guess what? I finally broke down and bought the navy Blooming Lattice, to accompany my green. I'm pretty exciting to start wearing it!

Where and HOW did you snag the sidestep skirt? I have been trying for ages and don't seem to have any luck in finding it. Would love any tips.

Thanks girls - I hope I get to see the pictures soon :)

Andrea - your boys are going to be smashing in this line, I love the colors!

Jamie - jealous! That cardi is so versatiile, and to have both colors will be awesome!

Angie - I was lucky enough to see the post on Anthro Exchange and I couldn't email the seller fast enough. Here is a link so you can keep watch too :)
