Inside My Closet

Yesterday afternoon I read a post on My Superfluities that discussed the importance of a well organized closet. I was spurred into immediate action and decided to get some things in order. I thought I'd snap a couple of pictures while everything was (somewhat) nice and neat. Do you love to see inside other peoples closets? I do! One of my favorite shows is House Hunters on HGTV, because I just love peeking inside and seeing how others live/decorate.

Here are my Spring/Summer Clothes. I have them organized by sleeveless tops, short sleeves, skirts, shorts & capris and casual dresses.
Eventually we'd really love to have professional closet organizers installed so we can better utilize the space. I'd do double rows of hanging storage and shelves for my shoes.

The other side has my Fall/Winter clothes starting with my cardigans since I actually use them during all seasons. Next are knit tops, button ups, sweaters, skirts and pants. In the back are my party dresses and boots. And across the top are all my sweatshirts and sweatpants. I keep basic tee's/tanks/camis plus my jeans and some other casual pants in two dressers in our bedroom.
I tried running to Home Goods this morning for some additional bins, but couldn't find any cute ones. These hold my flip flops, and as you can see I need one for sneakers. Despite the fact that I do not exercize or run, I manage to keep 1o pairs in rotation.

When I worked, before having kids, I owned many, many twin sets. There was a store in the mall called Petite Sophisticate (I was the youngest one shopping in there by about 25 years) and I had a twin set in just about every shade of every color. I could kick myself black and blue for getting rid of them. Sure, the "shells" from the twin sets could have gone, but why oh why didn't I at least keep the cardigan portion??? I am slowly rebuilding my collection ;)
Clearly, I have enough pink ones. The two colors I have the most of in my closest seem to be pink and blue.

The gaps I want to fill in the near future?
-Black Sandals
-Kelly green, brown, and orange cardigans
-Black pants that are short enough to wear with flats
-A couple of solid knit dresses
-A black belt with a gold buckle (any recommendations? I am having a hard time finding one that doesn't have a silver buckle)

And would you believe that my husband actually gets equal space? His clothes are on the other side, and I haven't encroached on them yet ;)

Holy cow, lady, you have an enviable closet(s)! Everything is so organized and looks so pretty - oh you put my lacking closet organization skills to shame.

I am also envious of your overall wardrobe collections too! Wow, I wish I could shop in your closet. :o)

I admit, I too enjoy looking into other people's closets, though I really don't know why.

Ooooh I ♥ this post! Lookit all your pretties!

I love House Hunters, too. And I'm super nosy about peoples' homes. Closets included. No one is allowed to see mine, though. It's a mess!

Wow, how I wish I could get motivated to organize! I can't even manage to hang up the stuff I bought 2 weekends ago! They're still sitting, getting wrinkled in the shopping bag!

But boy, would I love to share shoes with you! ;o)

(Petite Sophisticate...I remember that one!)

Man girl you are organized! I love it! I love to see other people's organization tips! I also have all my closet organized by blouses, dresses, skirts, cardis, etc. I keep my jeans in a basket and my tees and sweats in a basket! You have so much space though! The closet my husband and I share is probably about the size of the space you use for your spring/summer clothes! It's good for me though, b/c it keeps me in check with purchases. The more space I have, the more I would fill up!! Thanks for sharing. You could start an organizing business! Your house always looks spotless too!

Okay, that is just amazing space. Unbelieveable, so envious here and dreaming of when we move into a house! Well done Jan, the organizing is on point!

GASP! Speechless.
I think your closet is the size of our condo :(
I am so jealous. My clothes are sequestered to a corner of the second bedroom on a lopsided Ikea clothing rack.. someday when I'm a big girl I want a closet just like yours. I would spin around in it and invite my friends over to play in it, I would have parties in there! oops. I think I just crossed the line of being complimentary to being creepy :)
Thanks for sharing. I know what I'm dreaming about tonight!

Wowee! I think your closet is the size of one of our bedrooms (and we only have 2!) That's what you get for living in Southern California. LOL!

I love your closet - so much deliciousness - and the SHOOZ! OMG!

I heart House Hunters as well - because of the reasons you mentioned and I like to see the going price for real estate around the country...
